Conflict
Some conflict I went through with the edit, is the very short appearance my straight line ‘girl 1 character makes’ it was pretty hard to build my storyline about her, so I had to cast her as the unrequited lover rather than the main character, dot, ‘girl 2’. Another problem I faced is the stripping of the voice over and background music from my dot and line audio, because the video is so old, it is so compressed that it was almost impossible to strip the vocals from the background music. After a brief research I tried to do the task on Adobe Audition, but it still didn’t work out. Some other conflicts I faced were cutting around extra melodies I did not want from the dot and line audio. Finding relevant scenes and audio parts to put together.
breakdown of the words that stood out to me while playing back the Joy of Living with Fragrance and the dot and the line:
everyone's heads
pretty blonde
Exquisite aura
Her fragrance
Mystery
Confidence
Heightened personality
Provocative
Fruity
Feminine touch
Modern
Sophisticated
Elusive
Chemistry
Hers n hers alone
Confident
Pleasure
She only had eyes for the wild
Anything on his mind at all
Singing
Dancing
Frolicking
Laughing and laughing
Free
Full joy
Stiff as a stick
Dull conventional
I've got dignity
She's not good enough for you to be free
To express the inner passionate me
Settle down straight line
For anyways he looked at her she was perfect
He saw things in her
More beautiful than anything I've ever seen
Dreaming of the
Celebrate dare devil
Grew tired of self deception
Outrageous
Freedom is not a license for chaos
So complex
Express himself
Once upon a time there
after having used one of them I simply crossed it out making the process easier for myself
Diegetic/ Non-Diegetic Sound
Diegetic sound is sounds the camera picks up naturally while filming. such as characters in the story, or sounds made by those characters. In contrast, Non-diegetic sound is sound that is not visible on the screen, can be the narrator, sound effects, or mood music. For my video remix I used snips of the audio from the Joy of Fragrance video which is considered to be the diegetic audio, as for the non-diegetic sounds, I incorporated a very romantic with a hint of disparity audio in the beginning to my video to start it off on emphasizing the straight line's character’s disparity over her unrequited love towards the dot. And then as we transition to our main character, the dot, the music starts to pick up into a rock and roll melody embodying the dot’s reckless, sex filled, adventure lifestyle, where she’s so self-involved she doesn’t notice anyone around her. Later on, we start to transition to a more mysterious non-diegetic audio that I wanted to express as realization starts to hit our main character that this life she was leading wasn't all that and that she needed a change of attitude.

Elements of Design
Definitely repetition, for two reasons, one there wasn’t truly a lot of footage to work with so it was more of a functional matter, and two is I wanted each scene to reflect a different emotion, look out for the scenes that are going to repeat from the beginning of the video to the end, and how the emotions differ. I wanted the emotions surrounding the dot to be very fun, spontaneous, free, spontaneous, and as we reach the end it becomes reckless, childish, and useless antics. Another element I showcased was Symbolism, in the beginning of the video you can hear the narrator describe the dot in various adjectives and as he does so frame of the perfumes showcased in the original video pop up. I wanted the perfumes to symbolize the catalysts that took all these positive things the straight line loved about the dot and all the same time the reason the dot couldn’t be with the straight line and turn them into very negative habits that end up turning our main character insane. I lastly, also very much tried to evoke emotion through my audio, transitions, and the sequencing of the frames.
